You will experience some of the finest powder on 2 huge mountains in Canada's #1 resort and party town for 12 weeks from January to March. You'll train to become a ski or snowboard instructor and a ski or snowboard leader; you will learn mountain safety, avalanche awareness and leadership skills. Your skiing or riding will improve dramatically and by the end of the course you will be able to tackle terrain you wouldn't have believed possible!
Along the way, you'll have plenty of time to party with people who'll become friends for life. Whistler is known as one of the most beautiful places on Earth and ski magazines voted it the no.1 ski resort in North America in 2005. It's also been selected to host the 2010 Alpine & Nordic Olympic Games.
You'll fly in direct from London to Vancouver then transfer to Whistler / Blackcomb by coach. The resort is spread over two enormous mountains with 5,000 feet each of vertical and a combined 7,000 acres of chutes, steeps and trees, with an average snowfall of 360 inches and 33 lifts making it North America's biggest powder destination and party town. In Whistler you can work on all types of technical improvement - carving turns on the steeps, blasting through powder, honing your skills in the park, negotiating moguls and glades. Whistler has been called the centre of the freeriding and freestyle universe - where many of the trends in skiing, snowboarding and mountain biking originated.
Peak Leaders stay in comfortable houses within easy reach of the lifts and town centre. Accommodation includes twin rooms, excellent kitchen, living area and bathrooms with all the usual mod cons. With Peak Leaders, forget the trudge back with bags of shopping - weekdays, included in the price, you can look forward to superb home style cooked food (evening meals).
Weekends are for eating out in downtown Whistler. After a dump of powder, however, you can enjoy the freedom of getting in those first tracks for a few extra dollars. Catch the special early morning lift to the Roundhouse where there is a hearty breakfast buffet waiting for you. Space is limited to 650 people and when Whistler Patrol gives the go-ahead, the mountain is yours! | | | | | | |
